Novel Soundtrack
1.Janie's story starts with her as a young girl. The song that sets the mood for me is "Concerning Hobbits" by Howard Shore. This song sets the mood of a care free place, a happy place, much like Janie's childhood.
3.Joe becomes mayor of Eatonvill. This is an important point in the story. Janie's life improves with Joe having power and being able to give Janie a good life. The song I picked is "Hail to the Chief" written by James Sanderson. This sets a feeling of the power that Joe seems to have.
5.Janie meets Tea Cake. This brings happiness back into Janie's life. The song I picked to describe this is "Alive Again" by Matt Maher. This song speaks of becoming alive again like Janie felt with Tea Cake
7.Janie leaves Eatonvill to live with Tea Cake. This is important because she goes from a place of past sadness to happiness with Tea Cake. The song is "I'm On My Way" by The Proclaimers.
9.During the storm, as Janie and Tea Cake are running for their lives, the sounds of the storm must have faded. The song I put with this time is "There's A Storm Going On" by Hans Zimmer. I picked this song because of the sadness in the song at this time in the story.
11.When Janie buried Tea Cake she said he was a Pharaoh going into his tomb. The song I think fits this mood is "Funeral Procession" by Alo Jihad Racy.

2.After Janie and Joe meet he expresses his wish to marry Janie. The song that I think expresses Joe's feelings for Janie is "Marry Me" by Jason Derulo
4.Joe's death is a large change for Janie. The mood that the book sets is a sad one. The song "Amazing Grace" played on the Scottish Bagpipes sets this mood well.
6.Janie falls in love with Tea Cake. At this point she again feels the emotion of love for another person. The song I picked to interpret her feelings is "Bless the broken Road" by Rascal Flats
8.Tea Cake and Janie move to The Muck to work in the bean fields. Tea Cake works long hard hours and when he gets home from work he spends all his time with Janie. I think that relates to this song "The Work Song" by Corbin/Hanner
10.When Tea Cake was sick after being bit by the mad dog, his entire personalty changed. He was trapped inside this sickness but Janie knew that this was not him. The song I put with this part in the story is "Monster" by Skillet. This is how I think Tea Cake was feeling.
12.The story ends with Janie going back to her home in Eatonvill. I think a song that describes her thoughts is "I'm Going Home" by Daughtry.
